To determine the best background check services for both small businesses and very small businesses, we started by listing more than 50 of the vendors that conduct employee background checks. These included a combination of vendors we found via online searches and those we found through interviews with small businesses.
Then, we narrowed down that list by eliminating vendors that didn't specialize in employee background checks and those that didn't work specifically with small businesses. For our category focusing on medical practices, we started with the same list as the one we used for our business categories. However, we only considered companies that offered specific services for the healthcare industry. We then narrowed down the list by focusing on companies that work with small medical offices, and excluded those that work with just hospitals or home health care services.
