HTC's new Android device is a flagship business phone at a more affordable price point. The 5-inch HTC One E8 packs the same internal hardware as the HTC One M8 smartphone, launched this spring, but it lacks that phone's premium metal shell. Instead, the One E8 packs a plastic shell, which helps cut the cost of the device in half. But this phone retains the features that made the One M8 such a great business device, including a big, sharp display; long battery life; and handy software features. And it remains one of the fastest smartphones available. The HTC One E8 is set to launch later this month. Here are three features that will make this phone good for work.

Fast performance

The One E8 packs the same internal hardware as the One M8, including a powerful quad-core 2.3-GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM. This makes it a good pick for business users who demand speedy performance. The device can launch apps in an instant and handle serious multitasking. Other hardware highlights include an impressive 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card for expandable storage.

Bigger display

The HTC One E8 has a big, sharp display. The1920 x 1080-pixel, 5-inch screen is significantly larger than the original HTC One's 4.7-inch screen. Business users who want to be productive on their smartphones will benefit from the extra screen real-estate, especially for involved tasks such as editing documents on the go.

Software features

HTC's new phone packs a variety of handy software features, including an easier way to lock and unlock your phone. The HTC One M8 lets you activate the display by simply tapping it twice. It's a small but timesaving feature for business users who frequently check their phones to act on incoming notifications and alerts.

Meanwhile, a feature called Motion Launch uses built-in accelerometers to determine when you have picked up the device, then lets you launch applications with swipe-based gestures. For example, a downward swipe wakes the display and launches the dialer, while an upward swipe launches your last-used app. The functionality can help you spend less time fiddling with your smartphone and more time working.
