Richard Pawlowski, owner of BikeBillboards.com, a business founded in 2002 that helps people advertise on mobile bike billboards, explains how this image represents his business.
We are the original manufacturers of Bike Billboards in the United States. This photo is of one our affiliates, who used our bike billboards to land the Cricket Wireless national account for bike advertising in 16 different cities last summer.
I'm a retiree, who along with my wife, started making bike billboards in our garage for extra cash. We’ve rode them ourselves for extra income and we also made and sold our bike billboards all over the country. We also get leads from all over the globe now and as a result, we've put a lot of people in the outdoor advertising business. We also help our affiliate owners get more personal business contacts, and do first person consulting too.
We are now the central source for people wanting to learn more about the growing green advertising industry, and for those who want to use their bikes to earn income or to promote themselves and their businesses. Major companies are now also looking to us to find out new ways to promote offline and to stay competitive outdoors and away from screens. Our business is based on the simple basics of promotion, and doing what most others don't — or being where others can't advertise. We make it so that anyone can have their own personalized billboard.
Seasonal changes and weather are big challenges for us. Another challenge is spreading the word — a lot of people simply do not realize that they can use their bikes like this to make themselves more noticeable or earn extra income.
