Google Wallet has helped businesses everywhere make online sales by providing a fast, easy way to accept payments using the Google platform. Now, for the first time, Google Wallet is expanding and is available natively on a popular hosted payment processing service.
Online payments processor WePay announced that it has integrated Google Wallet Instant Buy into its own checkout service. Now, small businesses' online stores can offer Google Wallet as a payment option, along with credit cards and other forms of payment, using the WePay platform.
WePay's Google Wallet integration benefits e-commerce businesses in many ways. First, Google Wallet Instant Buy lets online shoppers quickly complete transactions without having to manually enter their credit card information every time they make a purchase. When offered as a payment method at businesses' online stores, WePay can help convert and drive sales by making it easier and faster for customers to check out. "Google Wallet Instant Buy lets users speed through checkout in as few as two clicks by using their Google credentials, which has been helping businesses increase conversions and sales since its launch," said Steve Klebe, head of business development for Google payments, in a statement.
Additionally, because WePay is a hosted payment processor that works directly with online store owners, the new integration also makes it easier for businesses to accept Google Wallet payments and even further facilitate mobile commerce.
"This integration with WePay will now expand its reach and allow us to support small business owners through WePay's hosted payment offering, making it easier for them to accept payments online and on mobile devices," Klebe added.
Although mobile devices account for 60 percent of Internet traffic, analytics firm comScore estimates that less than 20 percent of online purchases are actually made on smartphones and tablets, WePay says. With its Google Wallet integration, WePay aims to change that.
"There has been a ton of innovation on mobile, but there's still a lot of friction associated with mobile checkout," said Bill Clerico, founder and CEO of WePay. "With Google Wallet Instant Buy, WePay can dramatically improve the checkout experience on mobile and directly impact the bottom line of our partners and their end users."
The Google Wallet Instant Buy integration is currently in its pilot phase and is available to qualifying WePay users. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on testing the service.
