Looking for an affordable hybrid device for your small business? The new Toshiba Satellite Radius 11 gives you a full-featured notebook and tablet at a small-business-friendly price tag.

Featuring an 11-inch touch screen, a powerful Intel Celeron processor and Windows 8.1, the Radius 11 could be the ultraportable hybrid for your business.

Design and display

The Toshiba Satellite Radius 11 features an 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768-pixel glossy touch-screen display. It measures 11.4 x 7.8 x 0.86 inches and weighs 2.9 pounds, making it an ultraportable hybrid that you can grab and go to stay productive, wherever you are.

The device is built in notebook form, just like any other laptop. It features a Chiclet-style keyboard and a3.4 x 1.5-inch touchpad. Its hinged clamshell design, however, is what makes it a hybrid device — it lets you push the lid back 360 degrees, turning the Radius 11 into a full-featured tablet.

Power and performance

Powered by the dual-core Intel Celeron N2840 CPU, 2GB of RAM and Windows 8.1, the Radius 11 is a high-performance device that can keep up with all your business needs. It's also equipped with a superquiet, fanless architecture, along with several features to help you stay productive:

  • USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports for peripherals and devices
  • HDMI port to connect a secondary display
  • SD card reader to expand memory
  • 1280 x 720p webcam for videoconferencing

Where the device falls short, however, is battery life. In a benchmark study by our sister site Laptop Mag, the Radius 11 lasted only 4 hours and 54 minutes, whereas the average battery life for similar devices is a little less than 8 hours.

Cost and availability

There are several models of the Toshiba Satellite Radius 11. The standard 500GB version is available for $380 from Toshiba. A cheaper, 32GB version is available from Walmart for $320, and a 4GB memory model is also currently on sale at Best Buy for $329.99.
