ASUS Transformer Pad (2014): Top 3 Business Features

ASUS new Transformer Pad is a lightweight Android slate designed for productivity. The 10.1-inch laptop/tablet hybrid comes with a keyboard dock; just snap it on to transform the device into a capable notebook computer. The latest model packs a fresh new user interface and a lightweight keyboard, as well as better specs. That includes a sharp 1920 x 1200-pixel display, 2GB of RAM, and either 16 or 32GB of internal storage. Here are three features that make it good for business.

Hybrid design

An Android tablet is a good tool to help you stay productive when you're away from the office. But when you have real work to do, you'll need the benefits of a full physical keyboard. There are a variety ofBluetooth keyboards that are compatible with most Android slates, but the ASUS transformer Pad comes with a high-quality keyboard that includes a trackpad for more accurate pointing. That could come in handy when you need to edit documents or spreadsheets on the go, for example.  The slate connects to the keyboard via a sturdy hinge, so you can use it like a clamshell notebook.

Portability

The new Transformer Pad is lighter and more compact than the previous version, so it's a good pick for commuters and frequent travelers. When docked with the keyboard, the device weighs just 2.4 lbs., making it a notably lightweight notebook. The tradeoff is that the new keyboard dock no longer includes an extended battery, to cut down the weight of the package.

ZenUI

The new Transformer Pad is powered by ZenUI, a lightly skinned version of Android with fresh new functionality. That includes "Do it Later," a feature that can be used to cobble together emails, messages, Web pages and documents into a dynamic to-do list; items can be added and removed from the list with one tap. The feature can help you manage your time and ensure you don't forget about an important item on your reading list. Meanwhile, the "What’s Next" list scans your calendar notifications to provide a real-time look at your appointments, notes, missed calls and more.
