Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch: Top 3 Business Features

Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch: Top 3 Business Features

Samsung's Gear 2 Neo is a solid smartwatch for less. The Neo is a budget-priced version of the new Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch, which hit store shelves last month. To lower the price, Samsung stripped away some of the more premium features of the standard Gear 2. Still, the Gear 2 Neo retains most of the features that make Samsung's smartwatch a real productivity booster.

In a nutshell, the Gear 2 Neo puts the information you need to know right on your wrist. By linking your smartwatch to your smartphone via Bluetooth, you can ensure all of your notifications are just one glance away. That way, you'll never risk overlooking an important email, text message, missed call or calendar notification. The downside is that it's only compatible with Samsung smartphones; if you own a different phone, check out a smartwatch with broader compatibility such as the Pebble Steel.

More apps

The Gear 2 Neo isn't just a hub for your alerts and notifications. Like your smartphone, Samsung's smartwatch has lots of handy apps to help make you more productive. Using the device's 1.6-inch touch-screen display, users can browse their address book, check their email and even locate their smartphone with just a few taps. And the Gear 2 Neo supports a slew of new apps, such as Evernote, a robust note-taking and planning app, and Feedly, which lets you keep track of news and updates to your favorite blogs and websites.

Longer battery life

What good is a smartwatch if it's out of juice? The new Gear 2 Neo lasts much longer than Samsung's first smartwatch: up to three days before you'll need to plug it in. In comparison, the original Galaxy Gear only lasted about one day before it needed a recharge. A longer-lasting smartwatch means you're less likely to miss an important notification.

The Gear 2 Neo boasts an affordable $199 price tag, making it a steal compared to the more expensive Gear 2 model, which costs $329. Of course, you'll make some sacrifices by opting for the cheaper device. The Gear 2 Neo lacks a camera, and its plastic face can't match the premium look and feel of the Gear 2, which is made of metal. Still, it's a good value for business users on a budget.
