Samsung's Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is a premium portable tablet for business users. The 8.4-inch slate packs most of the features that make the new Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 such a good business slate, but in a smaller package. The Tab Pro 8.4 features a fast processor, super-sharp display and a revamped user interface designed with productivity in mind. For business users in the market for a compact mobile device, the Tab Pro's features make it a good alternative to Apple's iPad Mini with Retina display. Check out a full review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 at our sister site Laptop Mag, then read on for three features that make this tablet good for business.
1. Multi Window multitasking
The Tab Pro 8.4 features the same powerful Multi Window multitasking software found in other Samsung Galaxy devices, allowing users to run multiple apps on screen at once. You can drag two apps out of the tablet's Multi Window drawer, which you access by swiping in from the right side of the screen. Once you've dragged the apps, you can then position and resize them in any arrangement. This functionality makes it possible to monitor your business' email and social media feeds while browsing the Web, for example.
2. Magazine UX
The Tab Pro 8.4 ships with a brand-new interface that Samsung has dubbed the Magazine UX (short for User Experience). Unlike other Android interfaces, which put the focus on icon-size apps, Magazine UX is all about widgets — apps that can be viewed and used without leaving the home screen. The Tab Pro actually features three home screens, including one that puts the spotlight squarely on the tablet's business functionality. Out of the box, the business screen shows you your calendar, day planner and email inbox all at once. It also lets you browse business news, while offering quick access to key apps such as remote PC software and a file manager.
3. Business apps
Samsung packed a slew of business and productivity apps onto the Tab Pro 8.4, as well as a few bonus subscriptions. With the purchase of the device, users get one year of Gogo In-Flight Wi-Fi so you can work while you travel, as well as 50GB of online Dropbox storage for two years. Samsung also included WebEx for digital videoconferencing so you can meet remotely with employees, colleagues and clients. And if you deploy tablets to employees for business use, Samsung KNOX lets you create a separate, secure environment in which you can manage which apps are installed, and exchange private business data.
