ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T: Top 3 Business Features

ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T: Top 3 Business Features
This Transformer Pad is a solid pick for business users / Credit: ASUS

The Transformer Pad TF701T is a premium Android tablet with speedy performance and a nice display at a reasonable price. And ASUS’ keyboard add-on — sold separately — features a sturdy, hinged design that’s a boon for business users in search of a mobile work station. It’s heftier than the average 10.1-inch tablet, and the keyboard accessory is a bit pricey, but this Transformer Pad is a solid pick for business users. Here are three features that will help you stay productive on the go.

1. Hinged keyboard dock

Unlike the average Bluetooth-enabled keyboard accessory, The TF701T’s keyboard add-on features a hinged design that allows for a wide range of viewing angles. Just snap the Transformer Pad in for a combination that opens and shuts like a laptop; Android keyboards without a hinge must be paired with a kickstand-equipped folio case to prop up your tablet, and are limited to just one or two viewing angles. Beware: the TF701T keyboard isn’t cheap. The accessory will cost you an extra $150 on top of the tablet’s relatively modest $479 price tag. When paired with a keyboard, the tablet isn’t exactly the best bargain in mobile tech, but good specs and a quality build help justify the price.

2. Productivity features

ASUS’ hybrid tablet packs productivity-boosting software that lets you run up to six apps in floating windows by tapping a dedicated button at the bottom of the screen, allowing for side-by-side multitasking; the average Android tablet can only run one app on screen at once. That’s a plus for business users who want to take notes or respond to email while browsing the Web, for example. Alongside Samsung, ASUS remains one of the few Android tablet makers to offer up multiwindow functionality, though ASUS’ implementation supports fewer apps and lacks the ability to snap windows to the left and right sides of the screen. The TF701T also comes with security software to back up and secure sensitive information stored on your tablet.

3. Good battery life

The TF701T boasts above-average battery life for the category, running for about 8.5 hours on a single charge. With the keyboard accessory attached, expect to squeeze nearly 10 hours of use out of the device. Good battery life is especially important for business users who rely on a tablet to keep busy away from the office.
