Fun and quirky business news from around the world.

You already knew social media was really just a good excuse to share a bunch of silly pictures of your cat. Now, there's a social media network just for pets. Petigram is a new mobile app that focuses on creating a fun and interactive social network for pets. Ok, really for their owners, but you get the idea.

Designed to make it easier for pet owners and animal lovers to connect over their favorite animals, Petigram users share pictures of their favorite pets, follow other users and make friends. Members can also connect with others that have similar tastes in pets, learn more about breeds and where to adopt animals, or simply appreciate the pictures and editing that some have put into their pet sharing pictures on the app.

The Petigram model combines the social networking features of Facebook and Twitter, such as browsing through other profiles, posting messages on Petigram friends' walls and making comments on other photos, while incorporating the photo-sharing and editing capabilities of Instagram (like creating frames and filters and adding in text to pictures).

By being able to add text to the photos, the app's creators said users can share photos freely without worry that they may be passed along without proper credit, a common complaint on other photo-sharing sites.

In addition to the mobile app, members have the option to check out updates and other photos by visiting the Petigram website.

The app's creators believe Petigram is perfect for those wanting to connect with people on a lighthearted level without fear that the posts they make are going to be seen by their business contacts in their other social networks.

Petigram is currently only available on iOS mobile devices via the Apple App Store.
