With the proliferation of smartphones and tablets, businesses can no longer afford to ignore a mobile presence.

While many businesses think a website is enough, not perfecting it for mobile use can easily turn shoppers away. Research shows 40 percent of mobile consumers turn to a competitor's site after a bad mobile experience.

LocalVox, a local online marketing solutions firm, is giving small businesses a chance to avoid those situations with its newly released Mobile Website Builder. The do-it-yourself service walks users through each step of development in order to quickly and easily build mobile websites that are effective for local marketing efforts.

Trevor Sumner, president of LocalVox, said about half of local searches today are conducted on mobile devices.

"Regular websites are hard to read, are too big and thus are slow on mobile networks," Sumner said of the need for a mobile website.

In addition, Google gives priority to websites with mobile versions on mobile searches, allowing a key opportunity for local businesses toget ahead of their competitor.

"From driving awareness to prospects via search, to converting them to customers by creating an elegant experience, small businesses need to adapt to mobile to get better results," Sumner told BusinessNewsDaily.

LocalVox's new mobile website builder lets companies simply pick two colors and location, phone, events, announcements and deals are automatically pulled in from the rest of the LocalVox platform. The template is enhanced for local marketing, maximizing conversions of calls and directions to local businesses.

In addition, the mobile website gives priority to locations near consumers and then drives action by offering redeemable deals and events integrated into email subscriptions and social campaigns.

Sumner believes businesses risk losing out on new customers, frustrating existing customers and not leveraging marketing assets by failing to have a mobile presence.

"Our mobile website builder offers a two-minute solution to a key local challenge and intelligently uses content like mobile deals to increase conversion," Sumner said.

The service is free to all LocalVox customers. In addition to the mobile website builder, LocalVox also provides website updates, email marketing, social media management, mobile deal targeting, local directory optimization and search engine optimization for packages that start at $149 a month.
