How do you take your coffee? Perhaps with some Patrick Dempsey? Kate Rogers of FoxBusiness reports that Seattleites will be getting an extra shot of the “Grey’s Anatomy” star in the months to come, as the actor has recently purchased a struggling Seattle-based coffee chain, Tully’s Coffee, with plans to revive the company.
Six other bidders vied for ownership of the 20-year-old chain, but Dempsey won out with a $9.15 million bid that even beat an offer from Starbucks.
The acquisition is projected to save 500 jobs, according to Dempsey, and the actor is eager to get to work himself in helping revive the 20-year-old company.
Dempsey said he’ll have to keep in mind some of the lessons he’s learned while playing a doctor in order to resuscitate Tully’s, including the importance of team building and being able to rely on one’s colleagues.
Dempsey also told Rogers how humbled he feels by the overwhelming support he’s received from the city of Seattle and its residents, though it’s hard to imagine that this is the first time he’s won them all over with his “McDreamy” charm.
