Small Business Owner Says Romney Is Advocate for Small Business

small businesses and the election, how small businesses will vote in the election, presidential election

To get a pulse of how small business owners will be voting in the election, BusinessNewsDaily spoke with several business owners to see which issues are most important to them and who they will be voting for on Election Day.

Liz Updike is the CEO and founder of Liz Enterprises LLC, a business  training and development company that focuses on marketing, brand clarity and image enhancement.  The company is based in Vienna, V.A. and has two employees.

BusinessNewsDaily: Which candidate will you vote for?

Liz Updike: Mitt Romney

BND: What issues are most important to you as a business owner?

LU: The ability to grow the business, hire employees, and market the business.  In this current environment, the growth of the economy and the creation of new jobs can be significantly impacted by successful start-ups and small businesses.   Being able to grow the business without being handcuffed by more regulations, higher taxes, and government mandates for healthcare is key to starting and growing a successful small business

BND: Do you believe that any president can help improve the economy?

LU: Yes, the President of the United States is the leader of the free world.  If the country believes and has confidence in the president he has the ability to carry out the responsibilities of leading this country out of the recession and the current economic crisis. That confidence will allow people to make decisions that they might not have made before the election such as decisions to spend money on growth, expand the workforce and hire more people.  If the business community  and the world believes in the president, then perception is reality and people will feel more confident in moving forward.  There is a lot of cash sitting on the sidelines that is not being deployed due to the uncertainty of the election, the financial markets, and the tax situation.  I believe that while the president must work together with the members of congress, and our representatives in the House of Representatives and the Senate, his leadership role can impact the economy and ultimately improve the condition of the markets.

BND: Do you think that either candidate has a real plan for improving things for your business?

LU: I believe that Mitt Romney has a good understanding of how to run a successful business and what is important to business owners. He is advocating for the small business owner in this country.

BND: What do you think of Obamacare and how does it affect your business?

LU: I think that Obamacare should be repealed, it is not good for small business because it puts financial pressure on the business by forcing them to provide healthcare or pay a fine.
