Google Docs Gets Mobile Access App

Google Docs Gets Mobile Access App

Google Docs, the free Web-based office suite and data storage service, have been a godsend for many small businesses, allowing users to create and edit documents online and collaborate with other users in real time without a costly investment in software. But iPhone and iPad users have only been able to access their Google Docs files through a browser until now. Avatron Software has changed that with the launch of the latest version of their popular file-sharing app .

Air Sharing 2.7, now available in the App Store, provides a more user-friendly access to the Google Docs platform because it has been optimized for the iPhone and iPad screen space and interface.  The interface is very similar to using the Mac OS X Finder.

Google Docs access builds on the app's extensive list of supported formats, including pdfs and Word documents. With Air Sharing, you can connect your computer to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and transfer files in either direction by simply dragging and dropping .

You can also view documents on Dropbox, MobileMe iDisk, Box.net, FTP, WebDAV, mail servers and SSH.

The basic version costs $2.99. An enhanced Pro version is also available for $6.99, or $3.99 for an in-app purchase.  With the Pro version, you can also copy, print and email directly from Air Sharing. Support for IOS 5 has been added to Air Sharing 2.7.

"Google Docs is extremely popular and especially well-suited for small businesses, nonprofits and educators  — groups that need powerful collaboration tools that also fit their very tight budgets, " Avatron CEO Dave Howell said. "And, in today’s world, mobile access is a must. Navigating Google Docs on a mobile device can be quite cumbersome, but the new Air Sharing app solves that problem by making it simple and comfortable to access and view Google Docs files from anywhere."
