What does your business do?
We offer a unique auction shopping service that provides internet shoppers with a fun, easy and exciting means of buying items at an average discount of 94 percent off retail.
What’s better for promoting your business: Facebook or Twitter?
Both tools are extremely useful, however Facebook is more interactive which enables us to enhance the user experience. On Twitter , we have about 1,500 followers while our Facebook community page is closing in on 14,000 fans.
How many Tweets do you send a day?
Very few. On Facebook however, our status is updated every 2-3 hours with contests, surveys, games, suggestions and more, creating a highly interactive dynamic.
Who do you follow on Twitter?
Mainly media partners and tech companies that we're interested in; some celebrities and a few of our users. Facebook is really our tool for social media.
What’s your social media pet peeve?
Our social media pet peeve is that Facebook and Twitter both have a flaw where 'likes' and 'followers' can be purchased. We pride ourselves in the size of our Facebook community and when a new competitor pops up and goes from 120 to 10,120 fans in 24 hours it really skews the perception of what organizations like ours have legitimately accomplished.

Mobile . The speed at which cell phones are evolving with the ability to do almost everything on the go, from social media apps to replacing credit cards. I believe that very soon, we'll be seeing a lot more social media innovations for cell phones than any other platform.
Do you have a dedicated social media person?
We have more than one. Most times, the content to manage is relatively simple but there are times where more heads are better than one. I myself am on and posting several times a week, even as the CEO of the company.
What company is doing social marketing best?
In the Penny Auction world, it's us, hands down, and I would tell you if it wasn't. Otherwise I have to hand it to professional sports teams. Due to the nature of their business, they are guaranteed an instant following and also have an extra resource that few companies have.
What hash tag are you sick of?
None in particular. Before we have time to get sick of one, many others come to replace it. I will say that I'm starting to miss #Winning.
If you could create a new social media tool, what would it do?
A real-time action update - This new tool would pick up on the step-by-step actions of users as they travel through the internet. In other words, if someone were to win an item on Beezid, for example, it would automatically post an update on facebook.
Could your business exist without social media?
Yes of course. As I mentioned before, social media is a fantastic tool to enhance the user experience and a great way for us to connect with them, and most companies should definitely consider utilizing all the tools available out there, but it is not vital to the success of our business.
